Immigrant Investor Program Visa (EB-5)
The EB-5 category is for alien individuals who have invested or are in the process of investing capital into a new commercial enterprise in the U.S.
Generally, an individual must invest $1,000,000 to qualify. However, the requirement is reduced to $500,000 if invested in “targeted employment areas.” Targeted employment areas must have an unemployment rate at 150% of the national average or be a “rural area,” meaning a municipality with a population of less than 20,000.
Cash, equipment, inventory, other tangible property, cash equivalents, and indebtedness secured by assets owned by the investor are all acceptable investments for EB-5 purposes.
